Can academia hold its ground against politics?

The U.S. government has suspended Harvard University's ability to enroll foreign students and ordered the existing students to transfer to other colleges or risk losing their legal status. Harvard slammed the move as damaging and illegal and vowed to challenge it in court. A federal judge soon paused the order. This marks an escalating standoff between Harvard and the Trump administration. Last month, Harvard sued the government for allegedly trying to influence its academic decisions by threatening to cut federal funding. With mounting pressure from the U.S. government, how long can the nation's oldest university continue to hold its ground?
